Ilkka Hormila has worked with Search & Rescue dog handlers for decades and has also been teaching ID and SAR-search to sport handlers. During his police K9 career of over 40 years he has worked for The Police Dog Training Centre as master instructor for the K9 Scent Detection Unit, training Tracking, Area Search, ID-detection, Explosive, Arson and Cadaver detection dogs, he also served in operational duties with his own dogs. He is an internationally respected lecturer and trainer among Officials and SAR-dog handlers and works all over Europe, the US and also in Asia and India. His working methods are based on the creation of low stress learning environments and positive methods with the use of protocols for planning and evaluating the training activity. He teaches science based training because he feels it will apply to any animal in any situation for any requirement! He is internationally renowned for his great operational experience and his ability to teach. He has been a member of the scientific group “Scientific Working Group on Dogs and Orthogonal detector Guidelines” and he was one of the speakers at WOOF UK. He is also the founder of K9 IlMa Global Training He knows that it is possible to train Police and all other dogs without prong collars, electric shock collars and correction. “You can train a tracking dog, a detection dog, a police patrol dog, a SAR dog, all without these methods. It can be done. You just need to know how to do it. And you must want it” Ilkka Hormila Spectator places are for Friday - Sunday, you can attend on any or all of the three days

Cancellation Policy

A deposit is non refundable unless I cancel the event* Remaining balance is due a minimum of 30 days prior to the event, if the place is cancelled after the 30 day cut off then the full balance remains with K9 Brain Training, however you are welcome to advertise your place. If the place is cancelled before the 30 day cut off then you will lose your deposit. In the case where a deposit hasn't been taken and the full balance paid on booking then the full balance will remain with K9 Brain Training, again you may advertise your place. If an event is rescheduled, you are entitled to a refund if you can't make the rescheduled date. If an event is cancelled and the full balance has been paid, full refund will be given* * If you cancel your place on an event and then the event doesn't go ahead you are not entitled to a refund if the event is cancelled because of people pulling out and the event not being able to go ahead.
